Bionic Eye Expected To Let The Blind See By 2014 - PSFK
With over 285 million visually impaired people in the world, research into restoring vision for the blind is well past its critical stage. But with innovations in technology, and by turning to a focus to even just restoring rudimentary vision, research suggests that a more expansive solution is on the near horizon. Better yet, it’s a solution that may serve as the foundation for something much more instrumental, for many more people.
A team of electrical engineers at the Monash Vision Group (MVG) of Monash University in Australia has had early success in doing just that. The group has been laboratory testing a new microchip that will be used to power a bionic eye. With pre-clinical assessments due to begin shortly, the team’s encouraging results suggest that the project is on track to deliver a direct-to-brain bionic eye implant ready for patient testing by the year 2014.

Over it.

Honestly, I think the one thing I’ve learned this year is that I can’t stress about things that are out of my control. I’m a compulsive worrier, and can’t help it even for a second, but I’ve gotten used to forcing myself to get over things that I have no control over. If people want to do stupid things or make ridiculous decisions, that’s their own choice and I can’t do anything no matter how much I care.

On another note, I think it’s funny that some people think everything is about them… Years later, months later, even just a few days later, I don’t see how people can think only about themselves and live with the idea that everyone and everything revolves around them. I’m not saying people shouldn’t ever think about themselves, but it’s unreal that that’s all some people know how to do.

Either way, I’m done ranting… I’m just sooooo unbelievably ready for summer. Bring on the Argentinian boys, the Brazilian life, and home sweet home.
